Discovering Orthodoxy Together.
Discovering Orthodoxy Together.
I'm Joachim, a Syriac Orthodox Christian in the Arabian Gulf, and welcome to Orthodox Lad, a non-profit project as a resource for all Syriac Orthodox Christians worldwide. Here you'll find articles, hymns, books, biographies, icons, and much, much more.
As I said, I'm Joachim, and I'm young, like really young. Since childhood, I've felt zealous in the faith, pretty much attracted to it. When I grew to use the internet, I'd basically look up and research everything Church-related. But sadly I discovered there was a limited amount of Syriac Orthodox resources you could find. So, I read and researched, and learned everything I could, both on the internet and in real life, and compiled them as a website for you to find. Hope you like it.
Universal ecclesiastical authority rests on the Apostolic See of Antioch, established by Saint Peter in 37 AD. The Edessene dialect of Aramaic, the language which our Lord and his apostles spoke, is Syriac. Syriac is the official liturgical language of the church.
In the Father, and in the Son, and in the Holy Spirit, three persons, one God. And that the Son, our Lord Jesus Christ became incarnate for our salvation, and took of the flesh of his earthly mother, the Holy Virgin Mary, through the Holy Spirit. And after his incarnation, his divinity and his humanity became one incarnate nature of his. He became a man and was crucified by his own creation, and died and was buried. But death could no longer hold him, the tomb could not contain him, and having descended into Sheol and freed the departed, he arose from the dead and ascended into heaven, sitting at the right hand of the Father, and sending the Holy Spirit to enlighten us. He shall come again to judge the living and the dead.
